Training · RoleCall

A restaurant training manual built by talking.

Walk through a station once, out loud. It becomes a step-by-step manual with photos, and your team can ask it how to do things.

Built inside a working café. The manual in these screenshots is a sample.

1.0 Building it

Talk it through once. It asks what's missing.

The assistant interviews you like a good trainer: why the task matters, then one step at a time, saved in your words.

  • Photos and clips on each stepTap the spot to look at on a photo. A clip stays to its one step.
  • It asks before it publishesVague amounts, unmarked photos, a missing safety warning or no “done right” check: it asks the trainer first.
  • Nothing made upIt doesn't add a step, an amount or a warning you didn't give it.
  • Or type itAdd and edit steps by hand whenever you like.

2.0 Asking it

Staff ask “How do I…?” Answers from your manual.

Answers come from your own published manual, with the steps and pictures. Questions it couldn't answer come back to you.

  • Opens at the right stepThe answer starts at the step that matches, with its photo.
  • No guessingWhen it isn't in the manual, it says so instead of making something up.
  • What to record nextA list of what staff asked that the manual couldn't answer.
  • By stationRecipes, opening and closing, equipment, food safety, the register, service, receiving and policies.

3.0 Who's trained

Trained, then verified. Station by station.

A grid shows who has been trained and who has been checked off on each station.

  • TrainedSomeone went through it with them.
  • VerifiedThey did it alone, at real pace, while a manager watched.
  • Kept currentEach manual is marked due for review after six months.
  • Drafts stay privateStaff see published manuals. Owners and managers see drafts too.

Questions

Asked and answered.

How much does it cost?
Training comes with Team, $79 a month per location, along with scheduling, the time clock, messages and hiring. Every part of MDML is in Everything for $249 a month per location ($49 your first month).
Do I have to write the manual?
No. Talk the task through with the assistant. It saves each step in your words and asks what a new hire would need. You can also add and edit steps by hand.
What do staff see?
Published manuals, step by step, with photos and clips. Drafts stay with owners and managers.
What if the answer isn't in the manual?
It says so instead of guessing, and the question comes back to you as something to add next.
How do I know who's trained?
Sign people off as trained, then as verified once they've done it alone while a manager watched. A grid shows both for every station.

Teach it once. Then let them ask.

Open RoleCall, pick a station and tell the assistant how it's done.
